Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre's performance of The Taming of the Shrew

We are happy to welcome back the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre for another family-friendly summer performance this year with their production of Taming of the Shrew on Saturday, June 24. This Shakespearean classic has been adapted to fit a one-hour time slot and is crafted into a high-energy performance that will be entertaining for young and old alike.
Here’s how the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre describes their take on the classic:
Grab a seat close to the stage as AST transports you back to the lively and colorful days of old world Italy, where embracing adventure, music, and above all, passion was a way of life. Through a flurry of song and spectacle, join the rambunctious and arrogant Petruchio in his quest to woo the unimpressed and headstrong "Kate the Curst." Inspired by Italian traditions of puppetry and commedia dell'arte, our players bring the audience right into the middle of the action. So come ready to play – we can't tell the story without you!
Before the show at 7 p.m., be sure to join us for a workshop with Shrew director Chad Bradford. Bradford will lead a free workshop from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. giving a fun behind-the-scenes look about how they brought the Bard to life. The interactive workshop will look at how Shakespeare wrote his plays with embedded actions and how the AST cast and crew use those actions to take the play from script to stage. After the workshop, feel free to have a picnic lunch on our front lawn or in our air conditioned River Rock Grill. There will also be two great food trucks on site starting at 5 p.m. selling great grub: The Wunderbus and Under the Hood Barbeque. We'll also have some fun summertime activities on our front lawn before the show as well.
We hope you’ll join us for this free evening of Shakespeare. Register for the performance and the workshop with the buttons on this page to reserve your spot (especially important in case we must move to our rain venue) and come enjoy a summer day on the mountain.Register
