Mark thy calendars! The Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre returns to Petit Jean Mountain and the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute on Saturday, June 10.

We’re excited to welcome back another family-friendly performance from our friends at the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre. This year’s offering, The Complete Works of Williams Shakespeare (Abridged), will be performed at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10, near our Tennis Court by Lake Abby.

An additional activity — a one-hour interactive workshop led by managing director Chad Bradford and actor Xander Udochi — will begin at 4 p.m. Learn the basics of stage combat as you dive into Shakespeare’s texts to discover how he directed his fights through context, history, and embedded stage direction. Learn the art of stage falls, slaps, and maybe a little swordplay! The workshop is limited to the first 20 registrants.

Show Description

From Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre

“The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) is an irreverent, fast-paced romp through the Bard’s plays and was London’s longest-running comedy, having clocked nine years in London’s West End. Three Shakespearean “super fans” weave their wicked way through all of Shakespeare’s comedies, histories, and tragedies in one wild ride that will leave you breathless and helpless with laughter. Fun, frantic, and perfect for the whole family!”

Attendees are welcome to spread out blankets or bring lawn chairs, with provided seating being limited. We will have horseshoes, volleyball, bicycles, and assorted yard games to keep you entertained before the big performance, plus face painting and a magic show beginning at 5 p.m.

Starting at 4 p.m., R&C Shaved Ice and H&H BBQ food trucks will be open for business. Cash and cards are accepted. We will also have free popcorn and water available.

We’ll also be offering picnic boxes prepared by our Institute kitchen crew! Orders are $14 per meal. Please see our add-on tickets for options. No outside alcoholic beverages will be permitted.

Parking Information

Because this event will be held at our Tennis Court by Lake Abby, the small parking lot near the stage is reserved for food trucks and Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre equipment. The remaining parking spots will be reserved for accessibility.

We encourage our guests to park at the Main Building and walk (about 7 minutes) to the event area or utilize our shuttle, which will be running on a constant rotation.
