Energy and anticipation filled the air on Saturday, October 18, as the day began with a luncheon honoring the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute’s supporters.

Guests gathered atop Petit Jean Mountain to enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal, reconnect with fellow supporters, and celebrate two decades of impact. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and joy.

Senior team leaders reflected on the Institute’s work — not just over the past year, but on how we continue to guide guests through the Rockefeller Ethic.

Executive Director/CEO Janet Harris explained that the Institute serves as a guiding light in its mission and legacy.

Light illuminates the way. It isn’t the solution to darkness; it’s the way through it.

Following the luncheon, attendees moved into the lecture hall for Barb Shubinski’s compelling presentation, Faith in Action: The Religious Dimension of Rockefeller Family Philanthropy.

Shubinski explored the Rockefeller family’s Baptist roots and how their faith shaped generations of giving — from John D. Rockefeller Sr.’s early tithing to John D. Rockefeller Jr.’s $72 million in religious donations.

She mentioned Winthrop Rockefeller embodied Christian values through his work as Arkansas governor — advocating for racial equality, prison reform, and mercy in governance. His belief, “I am not my brother’s keeper; I am my brother’s brother,” reflected his lifelong dedication to compassion and justice.

An intimate group of guests gained a deeper understanding of Winthrop Rockefeller through Walks with the Governor, an interactive leadership workshop led by Janet Harris.

As stars lit the night sky above the main building, a vibrant celebration filled the conference dining hall, commemorating 20 years of impact.

Guests stepped into a glow-kissed haven, where café lights twinkled like fireflies and candlelit floral centerpieces whispered secrets of celebration, setting the stage for an evening that was both cozy and energetic.

The Rodney Block Collective took the stage at our party, their rhythms beckoning guests to the dance floor to sway, twirl, and let the music lead.

Specialty-themed beverages and a curated selection of bold hors d’oeuvres, crafted by Executive Chef Austin Bond, kept guests delighted and satisfied.

The evening was filled with music, flavor, and community—beautifully reflecting the spirit of the Institute’s core value of Have Fun

A total of 180 guests joined us throughout the day, participating in both the luncheon and the party.
